Public sector pay: is 5.5% fair?

The Chancellor Rachel Reeves has hinted that she may give an above inflation increase to workers in the public sector this summer. Independent bodies have recommend an increase of 5.5% for teachers and some NHS workers. It’s been estimated that the proposed above-inflation increase for workers could cost the government £3 billion. Chris Warburton asked listeners if they think 5.5% is a fair increase.
