32. May: Sweetcorn with Socks On!

Terry Walton's Plotcast

Available for over a year

Down to earth advice on growing your own fruit and vegetables with allotment gardener Terry Walton, from his plot in the Rhondda Valley. It's time to plant the sweetcorn out, no straight lines this time, instead they're planted in a zig zag pattern in a block so they all pollinate successfully. And if you're worried about rodents eating your corn, Terry has a suggestion for your old socks. The squashes are next into the ground, Terry has advice on how to arrange your courgette plants to ensure success and the best place to plant a pumpkin plant in order to provide the best Halloween lantern. If you have a question for Terry or want to share photos of your own crops, drop an email to: AskTerry@bbc.co.uk Producer: Lynda Shahwan
