Alcohol tax: is it too strong?

There’s been a major shakeup of how alcohol is taxed. The basic principle is that duty is being set in relation to a drink's strength; the higher the alcohol content, the higher the tax. The Wine and Spirit Trade Association say it will mean an extra 44p on a bottle of red wine, 97p on Sherry, £1.30 on port, 76p on vodka. Stronger beer - over 4.5% - will cost 4p more in shops but stays the same on draught - in what is billed as a measure to support pubs. 5 Live listeners spoke to Nicky Campbell about the changes.
