George Alagiah - A Life of Brilliant Storytelling

One of the BBC's longest-serving and most respected journalists, George Alagiah, has died. He was 67 and had been diagnosed with bowel cancer nine years ago. Born in Sri Lanka, George Alagiah joined the BBC in 1989 and went on to enjoy an illustrious career as a foreign correspondent, reporting from some of the world's most troubled regions. He later became the main presenter of the television six o'clock news. Colleagues in the newsroom have been remembering a kind and insightful journalist whose fight against serious illness inspired others. Among those remembering him, have been his friends Reeta Chakrabarti and Allan Little.
