For the past year, BBC reporter Divya Talwar has been investigating a brazen, elaborate fake fathers immigration scam. It involves pregnant migrant women paying British men to pose as the father of their child. Why would they want to do this? The woman and her baby both get a route to stay in the UK. The man gets a massive amount of money - sometimes as much as £10,000 - to be a fake dad. We’ve been told this is widespread, happening in different communities around the UK - but it appears to be going completely unchecked and unchallenged by immigration authorities. Image credit: BBC
