For months, Boris Johnson maintained that all guidance on Covid rules was followed in Number 10. The Metropolitan Police thinks otherwise - with 50 fines, now handed out. We know now, the Prime Minister, is among that number - bringing to a head a story that puts his leaderhip once more under pressure. Both the Chancellor, Rishi Sunak, and Mr Johnson's wife, Carrie, have also paid fines. Opposition leaders are calling for resignations. Mr Johnson said he respected the outcome of the police investigation and fully understood the anger that many people would feel that he "fell short". But he insisted he would stay in the job.
