Trapped underground for 54 hours - Britain's longest cave rescue
Latest News PicksAvailable for over a year
In November last year, George Linnane, an experienced caver, found himself in big trouble. He fell after the rock floor gave way inside Britain's deepest and most complex cave system in the Brecon Beacons. He was seriously injured - suffering breaks in his legs, his jaw and his ribs - and he was bleeding heavily. What followed was an extraordinary, intricate 54 hour long rescue operation involving more than 250 volunteers. In this episode of 5 Minutes On, George Linnane shares with the BBC's Wales correspondent, Hywel Griffith, his memories of the accident, the pain and the rescue. He also gets to meet and hear the extraordinary accounts of some of the people who saved his life, including the first doctor on the scene, Rebecca Specht. Credit Image: Mark Burkey
