Clarinet Sonata

Experience Classical

Available for over a year

Written after fleeing the Nazis in 1938, the slow third movement is the soul of this sonata. Possibly anticipating his farewell to Europe, the wandering melodies in both instruments make this uneasy and eerie music. He would leave for America in 1940. Composer: Paul Hindemith Performer: Annelien Van Wauwe (Clarinet) Performer: Evgenia Rubinova (Piano) Recording date: 05 May 2017 Date of broadcast: 20 December 2017
