Once - Music from the Motion Picture

Long Player with Steven Rainey

Available for 26 days

For someone who played music their entire life, there's a certain irony that Glen Hansard's legacy is intrinsically linked to cinema. First coming to global recognition in Alan Parker's adaptation of Roddy Doyle's The Commitments, he would later win an Oscar for his work on the soundtrack to Once. Having previously led The Frames to alt-rock success, this was a moment where Hansard's songwriting talents were recognised, a man for whom music belonged to everyone, as happy busking on the streets, as he was winning awards. In an inspired artistic combination with Marketa Irglova, the pair found a universal language in music, perfectly captured in John Carney's 2007 film, Once.
