The Phone In

Available for 24 days

The Prime Minister, Andy Burnham, is warning that the NHS will collapse unless England's social care system is improved. In his first major interview in the job with the BBC - he said reforming adult social care is one of the most difficult issues facing the country. While social care is devolved in Wales, many of the challenges facing the NHS and care sector are shared across the UK. The Welsh Government says social care has been undervalued for too long and remains committed to its long-term ambition of creating a National Care Service, with care ultimately free at the point of need. What’s your experience of social care in Wales? Beefeater have confirmed its closure date for more than 106 of its chain restaurants around the UK. Its doors will shut for good on Thursday, September 10th 2026. It joins other big players from yesteryear like Little Chef, Woolworths, and Debenhams. If major chains are struggling, are you concerned for local businesses in your area? And finally, Sam Fender and Olivia Dean’s “Rein Me In” has tied the all-time record for the U.K.’s longest-running No. 1 single. With its 18th non-consecutive week at the summit on the Official Singles Chart, it is now tied with Frankie Laine’s “I Believe” as the all-time leader. So – we’re talking iconic duets.
