The Britpop era saw some unusual and unconventional bands getting a chance to step into the limelight, but few were as unique as The Divine Comedy. Led by Neil Hannon, they were out of step with...pretty much everything, lost in love with the likes of Scott Walker, lounge music, the literary greats, and so much more esoterica. After two albums which had failed to set the charts on fire, the band's third record, 1996's Casanova found Hannon transformed into a genuine pop star.
