Call You and Yours: How did you get your first job?

You and Yours

Available for over a year

More than a million young people are Neets - Not in Employment, Education or Training. It's really tough finding a job right now, the number of starter jobs for young people has halved over the last decade. Tell us: How did you get your first job? Online only applications, multiple job interviews, and fewer vacancies have made it tougher to get a foot in the door. Traditional starter jobs in retail and hospitality have fallen - but also in office jobs, like HR, marketing and law. We want to hear from you if you're looking for a job right now. What is the process like? What's on offer? And, what's the recruitment process like - do you get feedback? We'd also like to hear from you if you're a business - what is it like trying to recruit people at the moment? And if you work in recruitment, what do you see? Winifred will be joined by Alice Walker, Head of Research at the Work Foundation at Lancaster University. Alice and her team have analysed job advertisements over the past ten years and spoken to young people about the jobs market. How did you get your first job? You can call 03700 100 444 at 11am on Tuesday. Our ermail address is youandyours@bbc.co.uk PRESENTER: WINIFRED ROBINSON PRODUCER: LYDIA THOMAS
