The boy shown in this film putting on the gas mask in front of the class is Donald Murray. He was 11 years old when the film was made. I am still living in Glasgow and was thrilled to see the film after all this time. At least now my family know what I have been talking about!

Here is some further information regarding the ARP film. The film itself was made at the suggestion of the Headmaster who was involved in other ARP activities therefore his school was chosen for the set.
In further crowd scenes you will see a young child who was left alone until a girl (who was in my class) ran and took this child to the shelter. My recollection is that this was not in the script but was retained to add some realism to the film.

When the film was completed the class were given a private preview in the makers' premises somewhere around Park Circus. We were also shown a film of the River Clyde, the shipyards etc. However this film could not be released for general showing because of the wartime restrictions. If anyone knows anything of this film could you please let me know.
