I lived at Burnhouse Street, Maryhill opposite Gairbraid School, and can remember the health department going into all the houses and inoculating everyone. A woman living on the street who worked as a conductress on the trams was the person infected. She had become infected, it is said, through handling money on her route, possibly at the docks. I remembering seeing her after she recovered. She wore a mask over her mouth and nose.
