Derby, 1745. You are deep in enemy territory.

Do you risk pushing on to London and victory? Or go back to Scotland while you still can? You decide!

Derby

Lord George Murray, Jacobite Army General

Your Majesty, we have come as far as we can. Our army is tired and hungry and we are a long way from home. The English won't fight for us and the French won't help us. There's talk of a big army waiting to surprise us and two more armies chasing us from the north. If we don't leave now we'll be trapped and killed! We MUST go back to Scotland!

John O'Sullivan, Jacobite Army Officer

This is it! We're almost there! We are only days away from London! If we attack London they will give up and give the crown back to your father! London is scared of us! I don't believe this story about an army ahead of us. I think it is a lie! We MUST go forward!

Dudley Bradstreet

Your Majesty, I am a humble English gentleman who supports your Jacobite cause. I have come from London to warn you about a large army that is waiting to surprise you if you decide to attack London. I strongly urge you to turn back to Scotland before it is too late.

Letter from John Daniel, English Jacobite

My name is John Daniel. I may be an Englishman but I believe the Stuarts are the true kings of Britain not this German Prince! I'm ashamed that so few English supporters of the Stuarts have joined up to fight. I think they're waiting to see who wins before they decide who to support. But I believe. I'll do my best or I'll die trying!

Letter from a man in Derby

Dear Anthony, thank you for your letter. The Jacobite army has arrived here in Derby now. The men are in a terrible state. Some are very old, others weak, others too young. I thought much more highly of the Highland army before I saw it than afterwards. I won't be helping them! Your friend, Simon. Derby.
