Episode 6 : “The hills are alive”

June 2007

EXT. STEEP HILL SOMEWHERE IN THE HIGHLANDS - EVENING

Our group, carrying rucksacks, are clambering up a steep hill, overlooking beautiful lochs and glens.

MORAG : (panting) Right, let’s camp here for the night. It’s a lovely spot.

MORAG : (cont.) (as she slides) Cup of tea anyooooone...??!

She sits down and takes her thermos out, and begins to slide downhill. Melodaidh stops her.

SEANAIR: But there’s a lovely track on the other side - it’s only a few miles further but the view’s really worth it.

MELODAIDH : Alright!

MUNRO : Sorry, I’m done for the day.

MELODAIDH : (eyeing Munro) I want to see that view Seanair, but if Munro’s too weak...

MUNRO : Hey, I can still go for miles. I was just thinking about Morag.

MORAG : Thank you, Munro.

SEANAIR : I’ll go with Melodaidh, then.

He takes a step forward, accidentally crushing a flower. A muffled scream sounds from underground.

DWELLY: (UNDERGROUND) (in Gaelic) Oww! Bidh faiceallach! (Be careful!)

SEANAIR : (in Gaelic) Tha mi duilich! (I’m sorry) ... I wasn’t watching where I was going.

Seanair grabs the flower and pulls Dwelly out.

Dwelly fires an energy bolt from his fingers and Seanair, with Brochan sitting on top of his rucksack, disappears up into the air. Melodaidh shouts.

DWELLY : (in Gaelic) Càit a bheil thu a’ dol, an-dràsta? (Where are you going just now?)

MELODAIDH : (in broken Gaelic) Tha sinn a’ dol dhan mhullach (We’re going to the top)... errr, to see the view.

DWELLY : (in Gaelic) O seall, tha thu a’ togail na Gàidhlig! - (Oh, look, you’re picking up Gaelic!)

DWELLY: This group needs to work on its harmony! Therefore, your next challenge should see you all singing from the same hymn sheet.

Seanair and Brochan plummet back into view, landing on Dwelly’s head and sending him tumbling back down the mountain.

DWELLY : (in Gaelic) ’S e am balach Dwelly - (Don’t mess with Dwelly)
