Episode 12 : "A fond farewell"

December 2007

EXT. SOMEWHERE IN THE HIGHLANDS - AFTERNOON

The camera pulls back and reveals that the scene of Seanair on a mountain top is a photograph. SEANAIR, MUNRO, MELODAIDH and BROCHAN are on a train, heading back towards Glasgow.

SEANAIR (V.O.) : What a year it’s been...

(to Melodaidh) So back to Australia, is it?

MELODAIDH : Well, not sure actually. I might stay a bit longer to keep on improving my Gaelic... and maybe marry a Scot?

Munro blushes and looks longingly at a photograph of himself and Melodaidh.

SEANAIR : I’m not one to count, but with only 10 Munros left, I might just finish them all. That’s my new year’s resolution.

MUNRO : Did you know that Munro in Gaelic sounds like ROCK! It’s Rothach!

MELODAIDH : Cool...

MUNRO : So my New Year’s resolution is... I’m gonna rock!

Brochan BARKS happily as Morag walks in with her usual cup of tea.

MORAG : (in Gaelic) Bliadhna Mhath Ùr, a Bhrochain (Happy New Year, Brochan)

MELODAIDH : (to Morag) What’s your New Year’s resolution, cousin?

MORAG : Loads more tea.

Morag goes to finish her tea, but her cup is missing! Then Dwelly appears on top of Morag’s head, cheekily finishing off her cuppa.

DWELLY (in Gaelic, ceremoniously) :Nollaig Chridheil a h-uile duine! Agus Bliadhna Mhath Ùr! (Happy Christmas everyone!... and Happy New Year!)

They reply merrily with various seasonal greetings.

Nollaig Chridheil (Happy Christmas)
Bliadhna Mhath Ùr (Happy New Year)

DWELLY (CONT’D) : I’ve got one final treat for you.

EVERYONE : Oh no.

MELODAIDH : Not again.

DWELLY (in Gaelic, booming): Sàmhach! (Silence!)

They all stare down, deflated.
Dwelly snaps his fingers and -- a shimmering shower of confetti drifts down and a huge clootie dumpling appears on the table.

DWELLY (CONT’D) (in Gaelic): Bliadhna Mhath Ùr dhuibh uile! (Happy New Year to you all!)
