Brochan | Seanair > MONDAY, FEBRUARY 19, 2007 Had a pretty cool night on Saturday night, it was the opening of the Festival and they had this cool lightshow on the hill looking over the town. Going to one of the mountain film festival films tonight, don't know if it'll be very interesting at all. The Gaelic is coming along and I suppose it's quite interesting knowing what some of the place names mean. Fort William in Gaelic is ‘An Gearastan’ which means ‘The Garrison’ because there was loads of Government soldiers based there to try and suppress those pesky Jacobites … this is a literary device, and not Munro’s official viewpoint. He is not a political animal Cheers Munro Jr POSTED BY MUNRO AT 10.00 AM - 0 COMMENTS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 14, 2007 Myself and Melodaidh went to the Ice Factor yesterday for a while and it was very cool. I think she was even impressed with my climbing. We took a couple of classes and I think I'm pretty good. Anyway today is valentines day - which I hate - but Seanair and Morag are going to dinner and myself and Melodaidh are gonna head to the wall again. If Seanair says one more word to me about Melodaidh and love, it could be war. Cheers Munro Jr POSTED BY MUNRO AT 12.04 PM - 0 COMMENTS WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 9, 2007 Fort William is getting better! Today I even found a McDonalds! There's a place called the Ice Factor which might be worth a go. You can learn how to ice climb and everything there, only inside which is a bit more civilised. Myself and Melodaidh might go down there at the beginning of the week. Tomorrow we're heading on a train to some place called Mallaig, it sounds a bit boring but Seanair is keen to go with Morag. I've got my "aye, aye-pod" so that'll help the journey go by faster. Gonna go and buy myself some new tunes now whilst I've got time in the cafe. Apparently, there’s a rock band from here called Carson … named after the Gaelic word for ‘Why?’ rather than a person. Full marks to them, I reckon. Yesterday, Seanair finally got to climb a mountain and to be honest I was quite impressed with his speed. Anyway, apparently Ben Nevis is a Munro just like me so of course it was a kinda cool day. Don't know how Morag enjoyed it though, she was practically purple by the end time we got home. The views were pretty cool too if it wasn't for Seanair acting like our guide and talking non-stop about every nook and cranny. Melodaidh lapped it up, but his grasp of the facts was a little like Hans Christian Andersen’s!! Anyway got to go, gonna listen to some tunes and chill out for a while it's all been pretty hectic here so far Cheers Munro Jr POSTED BY MUNRO AT 12.15 PM - 0 COMMENTS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 3, 2007 So we arrived in Fort William yesterday which seems an alright kinda place. I mean it is quite cool - if you're an outdoor person. Of course Melodaidh and Seanair are totally hyper about it all. Seanair has been going on about getting some fresh air in our lungs and getting up "The Ben". I think he's forgotten that Fort William is the wettest place in Scotland, it's like always pouring here. Anyway I ain't going out in any torrents so he better hope for a dry day! I wouldn't mind giving some snow boarding a go or something so hopefully the rain will turn into snow at some point.
