Round 7 of the HMX Championships was held here in Nairn yesterday. People of all ages race around on bikes in the mud! It was really great! I managed to get a good view of the bikes flying through the air. The height they get on some of the jumps was incredible! Melodaidh went along with me, and seemed to enjoy it. I wouldn’t mind giving it a go myself, but buying a bike isn’t an option just now. It would be a bit of a pain dragging it around for the rest of the year. But Christmas ain’t far away…

There was also a cèilidh a couple of nights ago, too. Been to a few now this year, and they really are good crack! Seanair and Morag were dancing together, while me and Melodaidh were showing them how it’s done. I’m definitely getting better, and only stood on her toes once … or twice!

We had a couple of historical things on too. Not really my thing, generally, but these were pretty good. The first one, “Links to the Past and Present”, even had a couple of funny bits! Who knew history could be amusing? And the other one, “From Celts to Kings,” had some re-enactments. Pretty cool to see how much people's lives have changed since then. Makes you wonder what it’ll be like in another few hundred years.

Anyway, I’d best be off. Lots more sights to be seen and doing to be done!

Hey! There’s been some really great gigs going on here recently! The jazz festival was totally different to the live music shows I’ve been to before. Not like the rock I usually listen to. It’s not something I thought I would have enjoyed, but it’s actually really great! I’ll definitely be getting more jazz MP3s! The whole festival was just great music followed by great music.

Melodaidh also took me to see a band called the Luminescent Orchestrii (Yeah, took me a few goes to get that spelt right…). I’m not sure how it is that the Australian knows about all the cool things that are going on in Scotland, but there you go.

This was another really great night of music. They’re described as “Romanian Gypsy Punk”. Not a style that I had ever heard of before, but one that I will absolutely be looking for from now on! Their sound is totally unlike anything that I have ever heard before!

I’m starting to wonder if I’m going to have to delete some music files to make room for all the great new stuff I’m hearing! It’s a real worry!

Ciamar a tha sibh uile? Tha an t-uabhas a’ tachairt am mìos seo! We’ve got the Nairn International Jazz Festival coming up. It should be pretty cool. I’ve downloaded a few new songs, get a feel for it before the main event, you know? It’s not the usual sort of thing I listen to, but it’s definitely growing on me. It’s kind of got a cool, laid back feel to it. Some of it is a bit maverick, right enough …

There’s a big event which happens each year called the Aberdeen International Youth Festival. Although it’s based in Aberdeen, they do head out and do some stuff in different areas.

I’m just back from a show that was on in Findhorn. There were loads of different cultures and styles to be seen. And another great thing about it is that it’s young people who are performing. I like to see that, rather than a bunch of guys Seanair was in school with!

It’s getting late, and the big jazz fest starts tomorrow, so I’d best be off.
