Halò is ciamar a tha sibh an-diugh?

Oh dear! I’m feeling a bit nervous. Melodaidh is competing in the O’ Neill Highland Competition this week and my stomach is just churning for her. I really hope she does well and wins a prize as she’s been practising nearly every day. I think I would rather climb a Cuillin everyday than go on a surfboard! I just couldn’t get the hang of it at all.

Anyway we’ve had a very enjoyable time in Thurso. It’s a lovely little town with lots of rich history and interesting facts. Did you know that it was renowned for flagstone production many years ago? The main square is called Sir John’s Square and this is after Sir John Sinclair who put together the first statistical record of Scotland in 1770. I just find local history so fascinating.

Anyway better go and give Melodaidh a wee hand.

Halò a-rithist!

Well our weekend turned out to be a bit of a hoot! I noticed that there was a Country Music Festival in Caithness at the weekend so we all decided we’d go and have a look. I just love country music; Kenny and Dolly, Philomena Begley, ah I just love it – almost as much as traditional music. Anyway as it turned out there were bands from all over there and we had a right good hoolie. Well Melodaidh and myself did anyway! Munro didn’t look very happy but what’s new there.

I’m still not conquering the surfboard but I’m having a really splendid time. We’re going for a walk around town and to have a look about the castle ruins.

Best dash,

Morag

Halò is ciamar a tha thu? ‘S e latha fliuch a tha ann! Tha mi fliuch!

Oh well, here we are in Thurso, the most northerly town in Britain. It was an old fishing village, you know. I would just love to be fishing right now but instead we are trying to do some surfing! ...? I just can’t seem to get the hang of it at all and if falling off the surfboard wasn’t embarrassing enough, my wet suit was also a bit on the tight side. I really am too old for all this shenanigans!

Thurso seems like a very nice little town and I really am looking forward to exploring it a little and I’m so thankful that there isn’t a Munro or a climbing wall in site!

Bye for now,

Morag
