Munro took me along to see one round of the HMX championships. I think it’s also called trial biking. Anyway, it’s a pretty extreme sport, and I’m now desperate to give it a go myself! There are lots of jumps around the course, and the idea is to see who can get the highest and furthest jumps, and who can get around the course the fastest.

It’s actually quite a difficult sport. Not only do you have to learn how to get the best jumps, and how to control the bike at speed, but then you have to know about landing, and how not to let the bike get away from you. Probably something I’d need a bit of practise at before I turned pro!

Anyway, even just watching from the sidelines, I got plenty of mud on me! So I’d best be off to scrub up!  Munro is looking really red and embarrassed at me typing that … don’t know why!

The Jazz is over now, but what a week it’s been! The closing act of the festival had Lynn Seaton on bass, Larry Fuller on the piano, and Butch Miles on the drums. All three are considered to be some of the best musicians on their instruments in the world, and although I’m no expert, after what I heard last night I would have to agree!

It was a tremendous last night, and the perfect ending to what has been an amazing festival! I’m really glad we went along, and I’d love to come back again next year! I could go on and on about how great it was, but I think you probably get the idea!

I’ve been looking around at what’s on, and there’s a group called the Luminescent Orchestrii playing in a few days. They look like they’ve got a really different sound, and I’m really looking forward to checking them out. I’ll try and drag the others along as well!

That’s it from me for now. Write again soon!

Fàilte! Tha sinn air a bhith gu math trang sna làithean a dh’fhalbh! (A very nice Gaelic teacher taught me that - it means “We’ve been very busy in the last few days.”)

The Jazz Festival started yesterday, and it really is worth seeing! It’s just such a different form of music to most things. It only started in New Orleans in America at the start of the 20th century. It’s weird to think that a whole type of music, which is so well established, is really quite new.

We heard Tim Kliphuis in the afternoon, who is a jazz violinist. And then this evening we had “Barbara Morrison and The Tom Finlay Trio.” Both really were unbelievable! Such a great sound! And that’s only the first day! There’s still plenty to go before the end of the festival!

Seanair is off to a big orienteering competition tomorrow. Unfortunately, it’s running at the same time as the jazz festival. If it hadn’t been for the music, I would have joined Seanair for a spot of outdoor activity! Still, I think Seanair’s going to manage to come to see a small bit of what’s on in the evenings, so I’m sure I’ll hear everything that he’s been up to first hand!

I’m yawning away here like you wouldn’t believe! I really wanted to tell you about all that jazz (geddit?), but now I really need my bed. Night!
