Dwelly | Munro > TUESDAY, SEPTEMBER 25, 2007 Feasgar math … ciamar a tha sibh? Tha sinn air a bhith a’ siubhal fad is farsaing (far and wide)! I think we must have visited every island in Orkney, and we even went in a plane! I’m not sure flying is the best way for me to travel. I didn’t see a single dog parachute on board! A couple of days ago we were on Sanday, bird watching. Apparently birds move around a lot, heading south for the winter where it will be warmer. I doubt they move around as much as we have this year though! Anyway, we all had to be very quiet, so as not to scare any of the birds away. I didn’t think Seanair would be able to sit still for so long, but he got absorbed watching the birds. I just had a bit of a nap, since it was the easiest way to keep quiet! Too much risk of disturbing the birds if I’d been chomping through a packet of cheese and onion crisps. We’ve been eating the excellent food Orkney has, and it’s been great! But I’ll probably feel it when Seanair starts taking us up mountains again! Oidhche mhath! Brochan POSTED BY BROCHAN AT 21:46 PM - 0 COMMENTS SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2007 Feasgar math. Tha mi an dòchas gu bheil sibh gu math! Seanair gave Munro a great compliment today. He said “Tha do cheann na bhrochan”. Imagine how Munro must have felt, being compared to me! Well, I suppose I was bound to have an effect on him eventually. Probably just took a while to penetrate those ear phones of his. Co-dhiù, we’ve been very busy here. The science festival was fun. Munro tried showing off all his knowledge (that took around five minutes!). I think the others were quite impressed with what he knew though. We spent today at the Kirkwall Police Department. There was some music, a bit of dancing, and most importantly of all, I made some new friends! The Northern Constabulary Police Dogs were out! They are pretty impressive! Brave, too, letting humans work with them! But I think I’m more suited to my relaxed lifestyle. The Orkney International Science Festival has already started, and we’ve got plenty else to be seeing! This could be one of our busiest months yet, with over 50 islands to explore! I’ve been looking around, and I’ve found out that the islands are mostly “low-lying”. That means flat, or, as I like to think of it, Seanair-proof! I’ve got a whole month away from walking up mountains! There are a couple of hills I’m sure he’ll want to drag me up, but that’s nothing I can’t handle! And with all the islands we have to visit, there are going to be plenty of ferry trips on which to relax! Well. I’d best be off. Tha mi a’ dol a ghabhail norrag! (That means: ‘I’m going for a nap’ - one of my favourite phrases!) Mar sin leibh, Brochan POSTED BY BROCHAN AT 17:52 PM - 0 COMMENTS |
