Ciamar a tha sibh uile. Tha mi toilichte. Tha mi toilichte gu bheil sinn ann an àite ùr eile. Tha mi sgìth cuideachd agus tha an t-acras orm. Tha mi ag iarraidh bhrisgean – that means ‘I want crisps’! I learnt that from a Gaelic-speaking waitress at the Mòd last month. I think it will be a very useful phrase as I head for the bright lights of Oban and beyond.

We might be in for a ferry crossing or two as Seanair wants to go to Mull, Morag wants to go to Iona and Melodaidh has heard that there’s good surf in Tiree. As long as she doesn’t expect me to get my paws wet, I’ll be happy!

Tìoraidh an-dràsta,

Seanair has been in his element on Islay and so have I, but for very different reasons. Seanair has been fascinated by the whisky distilleries and has been sampling their wares. That’s meant he has forgotten that Islay doesn’t have as many hills as some other places we’ve visited. My paws have enjoyed a well-earned rest.

There’s lots of wildlife here to keep me on my toes – I don’t fancy getting on the wrong side of the Barnacle Geese that frequent Islay. I’m keeping an eye out for them, just in case!

Feumaidh mi falbh an-dràsta,

Feasgar math … my quest for crisps is now becoming like some kind of heroic epic tale. I haven’t had a good packet of smoky bacon for a week now and I think I’m starting to get tetchy. Seanair tried to make me go up some huge mountain but I refused. It was a bit like a show jumping horse pulling up to a dead stop in front of a fence. No way. I feel a bit bad now, but there was an amazing power station INSIDE the mountain – Ben Cruachan. There was also a café and I’m sure we’d have found crisps there!

Mar sin leibh!

Madainn mhath a h-uile duine. Tha mi a’ sgrìobhadh seo aig leth-uair an dèidh meadhan-oidhche. I’m writing at half-past midnight, so, yes, it is technically morning. We’ve been really dotting about this month and the old paws have another few miles worth of wear-and-tear on them.

We still don’t know what Dwelly has planned for us in December – I suspect he’s in league with Seanair and that we’ll be bidding farewell to 2007 on the top of some mountain. As long as he teaches us a wee bit more Gaelic, I think I could put up with one more summit. Tha a’ Ghàidhlig a’ còrdadh rium. Is toigh leam Gàidhlig!

Chì mi a-rithist sibh!
