2/9 Hilary's Writing Room
A flood of autumn sunlight made this a tricky picture to take, an exercise in chiaroscuro. Everything in this room is meant to be here: photographs of my 6 children, Breton bowls they had when small; a rug, given by a friend, the faded armchair bought for tuppence ha'penny. I painted the table and bookshelves, and my writing chair, of beautiful moulded ash, is one of a set my partner Michael has had for many years.
This is a serious writing room.
