Are they outdated?
There has been an increase over the last few years in the number of single sex schools opting to go co-educational and school boys and girls together.
As girls continue to outperform boys at all levels of education Woman's Hour asks whether some of the old arguments to justify single sex education - that they increase girls academic performance - are outdated?
