Navigating the minefield
Dating is complicated enough at the best of times these days, particularly once you start looking for a match in the small ads or on the internet. As a single parent looking for a new partner it can be an absolute minefield.
Do you want to meet a man with children themselves, or someone who is without their own offspring? At what point do you tell them the full horror of your own potentially complicated circumstances? And the thorniest question of all - what do you tell your own children? Do you involve them in the search right from the start and leave them vulnerable to the possible pitfalls of a new relationship, or do you keep them blissfully unaware of events until you're as sure as you possibly can be that this man is The One?
Caroline Swinburne meets three women with very different approaches to the issue.
