Is a new childbirth scheme the beginning?
Women prepared to pay £4,000 are being offered special reproductive care at a London NHS Hospital. The 'Jentle' midwifery scheme at Charlotte and Chelsea Hospital gives maternity patients a 'one-to-one' service from a midwife in the later stages of pregnancy and labour, and for four weeks after the birth. What are the benefits of this kind of care, and should the NHS provide it to everyone free of charge?
