On her latest crime novel
Set in the Lake District, Val McDermid's new novel follows the Wordsworth specialist Jane Gresham as she tries to uncover whether a controversial rumoured narrative poem of Wordsworth, based on stories told to him by Fletcher Christian about the massacre on Pitcairn, actually exists. Val tells Jenni what inspired her to use these historical figures and why she has chosen to have her main character as an academic rather than a law enforcer.
