A vital part of rural life
The horse used to be the most useful animal known to man. We could ride it, have it pull a carriage or a plough, get it to carry heavy loads and in areas where there's woodland bog or marsh it was used for clearing up - a function known as horse logging.
These days horses are generally used only for pleasure as machinery has taken over most of the jobs, but logging still takes place in some parts of the country.
Catherine Carr went to Landbeach near Cambridge to meet one of the few remaining horse loggers. Stella Cornell explains why her skills can still be a vital part of rural life.
