Would you let your mother find your partner?
Mothers have traditionally long been keen to see their daughters ensconced in happy matrimony. With many women waiting until their thirties before settling down, that eagerness can often be tinged with anxiety.
Jane Austen would have approved, but most modern women would find it a trifle humiliating to have their mother setting up on a date or making a public appeal to find them a partner through the placing or answering of singles ads on their behalf.
