Winner of the the loudest female cry
One of the most memorable successes of this year was the England cricket team's win against Australia in the Ashes. But it's probably less well known that we also beat the Ozzies on their home turf at the World Town Crying Championships, held in September in Maryborough in Queensland.
The title of loudest female cry this year was won by Ros Chard. Her voice registered an incredible 98.2 decibels. Back at home Ros is the town crier of Hatherleigh, a small market town on the edge of Dartmoor in Devon, where she's joined on her travels by her dog Millie. Our reporter Fiona Clampin took her earplugs along and spoke to Ros and Millie as they were getting ready for the grand switching-on of Hatherleigh's Christmas lights.
