50th anniversary
In 1955 three Scottish women went on the first female only expedition to the Himalyas. They received little publicity at the time but fifty years later another group of climbers, inspired by their example, set off on a trip to retrace their steps. And at the grand old age of 79, Dr Evelyn McNicol, one of the original trio, agreed to join the anniversary climb.
