On her son's death and meeting Mr Bush
When Cindy Sheehan’s soldier son Casey died just days after arriving in Baghdad, she vowed to tell President Bush face-to-face that America must leave Iraq.
In August this year she tried to do just that but fell foul of Mr Bush’s security and became a media cause celebre in the process. She instantly became the human face of opposition to the Iraq conflict and public opinion in the US polarised around her.
Cindy Sheehan tells Martha Kearney what it was like to finally tell the president what she thinks and how her anger at the death of a beloved child made her a force to reckon with.
