Rise in Northern Ireland since the end of the troubles
In the past six months, 60 men have died by suicide in Belfast. In the Ardoyne area of the city, 13 young men took their lives in the first two months of this year.
Meanwhile, in Scotland the suicide rate for young men aged between 15-24 is double that of England. Last week a report from the government's Social Exclusion Unit, outlining the challenges facing young people, said that suicide is the cause of a quarter of the deaths among young men.
