  The Yew 21 Nov 2005
One of the oldest species on earth

The Yew is one of the oldest species on earth and is deeply embedded in the cultures of Europe, North America and Asia. It is deadly poisonous but also a symbol of immortality, and has inspired myths and legends for centuries.

Guido Mina di Sospiro is the author of The Story of Yew, Grace Corne is the editor of the magazine Flora Facts and Fables, and Sue Minter is the curator of the Chelsea Phsyci Garden where Jennifer Chevalier went to look back at the history of one of the world's most magnificent trees.
