Where have they all gone?
In 2001, the census results revealed that a million men were missing from this country. This corresponds with the anecdotal perception among many single women that there is a scarcity of eligible single men. But how true is this perception?
Does an overall imbalance in the ratio of single men to single women really make a difference to individual women? Or is
the Bridget Jones phenomenon of the tragic single woman still propagated by a traditional society which believes that a woman must be in need of a man?
