  Fatherhood 19 Oct 2005
Are we undervaluing the presence of fathers in childcare?

Last week we saw an Equal Opportunities Commission report pressing for greater inclusion of fathers and men in childcare; and today the Government is due to release a paper on parents' rights - which is rumoured to include a proposal to extend fathers paternity leave.

In the light of all this attention on fathers, a report from the Institute of Public Policy Research, also published today, asks whether we are undervaluing fatherhood. Jenni will be discussing if policy needs to change in the way it treats fathers, and how we can encourage fathers to work more flexibly and spend more time on childcare.
