  Female thatchers 14 Oct 2005
Braving the heights and the elements

There are few villages more picturesque than Pebworth, on the Worcestershire-Warwickshire border. Most of its 300 year-old stone cottages are topped with thatch and one of them is swathed in scaffolding. Amanda Davies is hard at work up on the roof. Her one-woman business, Corn Dollies, is thriving.

Jane Gething-Lewis watched her practice the skills of the thatcher.
