What's the best way of dealing with an angry child?
It's what every parent dreads, you're in a packed supermarket piling up the trolley for the weekly shop and your 3-year-old decides to throw a tantrum. All the other shoppers throw disapproving glances and even comments in your direction, so in desperation you grab the nearest bar of chocolate and stuff it in his mouth to silence him.
But what is the text book way to deal with tantrums and displays of anger in young children? Is ignoring them the best strategy? Is it really so bad to give in?
