Taking a look at the artists life
Mary Adshead was an artist who could turn her hand to the detail of a postage stamp and the grandeur of a mural for a restaurant at Selfridges.
Adshead was a contemporary of Stanley Spencer and Rex Whistler, and in her long lifetime - she died in 1995 aged 91 - she created art for Cunard liners like the Queen Mary, for the London Underground, and for the houses of rich men like Lord Beaverbrook.
Woman's Hour shines a light on an artist who worked in many areas during her life but whose legacy is only now being assessed.
