What are the implications of leaving home?

As we head towards the autumn, many young people – and some more mature – will be making their preparations to head off to university.

While some may anticipate the change with excitement, others may be daunted by a new environment where they’ll be expected to arrange their own studies and research, make a new set of friends and, more often than not, get to grips with life away from home.

We discuss the transition to university or college: Are you a parent concerned about how your son or daughter will cope? Are you a student full of trepidation at what the next months hold? Or did you have a terrible time in your first year and have words of advice to pass on? We want to hear from you.
