Are the fortunes of redheads about to change?

Blondes may have more fun, but it's redheads who'll have the last laugh as research published last week showed they feel less pain than the rest of us.

Throughout history redheads have always been seen as different, red hair used to be seen as a symbol of witchcraft, and maritime superstition decrees that it's unlucky to have a red head on board a ship.

But why has this always been the case? And now Madonna has gone red could titian fortunes really be about to change?
