European maternity rights 14 July 2005
How does Britain compare?

Which European country is the best place to be a mother?

Roberta Guerrina has researched everything from maternity rights through to part time working to assess who's doing most for women with children. Some of the findings are surprising .. the rights of Italian mothers are the best in Europe, but as a result employers are reluctant to give jobs to women of child bearing age.

Roberta even suggests this is contributing to Italy's phenomenally low birth rate. So how is Britain doing?

Dr Roberta Guerrina, lecturer in politics at the University of Surrey joins Jenni along with Angie Robinson, head of Manchester's Chamber of Commerce.
