Making music for today with an instrument of the past
This year, the York Early Music Festival celebrates the female muse: patron, composer and performer.
Carole Cerasi, one of the UK's leading harpsichordists, has been invited to the festival to play the music of the 17th century composer Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre. Cerasi chose to make her recording debut with the complete harpsichord suites of Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre and her CD went on to win the 1999 Baroque Instrumental Gramophone award.
