  Solvent Abuse 7 July 2005
Is it still a problem?

You could be forgiven for thinking that the problem of children sniffing glue, gas and aerosols was one of the 1980s - because over the last 20 years it's slowly slipped from public view.

But a recent report found the problem of Volatile Solvent Abuse or VSA as it is now known is still widespread. And the statistics are startling: around one third of people who die as a result of abusing solvents are first time users. It kills more young people every year than all illegal drugs, but it only gets a fraction of the attention of ecstasy and cannabis .

Jenni will be talking to Barbara Skinner; chief executive of "Solve It" and John McVey from Re-Solv and asking why this problem is being ignored and what can be done to prevent children playing Russian roulette with their lives?
