The generation gap cuts both ways

Young people all too often feel old people disapprove of them. And some old people think young people are rude and dismissive. It’s an attitude that is hard to break down.

That’s why 13 and 14 year old pupils from the George Mitchell School in Leyton visit a nearby residential care home. As part of a project the teenagers are videoing interviews with the residents about their past and current lives.

Philippa Budgen has been to see the work in action at Edith Pearson Lodge and asked the pupils what their image of an old person was...
