  GI diet 21 June 2005
Dr Jennie Brand-Miller explains her role in its creation

Research carried out earlier this year found that adding just one low GI food item to each meal cuts blood sugar levels, and could have major health benefits.

By promoting the eating of foods that release their sugar more slowly the GI diet not only helps with weight loss but it has also been shown to reduce the risk of metabolic syndrome, a common condition thought to affect one in four adults, that can increase the risk of heart disease and diabetes.

Jenni is joined by Dr Jennie Brand-Miller, the Australian scientist who defied armies of critics to show the value of the GI diet for general health.
