How honest should a parent be when one of them is in jail?
How do you tell a child that their father or mother is in prison? Should you let them know everything, or is it ever better to hold some information back? And what are the consequences of not telling them the truth?
The charity Action for Prisoners' Families has produced a series of books designed to help children and families cope better. The books are aimed at raising awareness in schools and in the wider community – having a parent in prison is still a taboo.
Taking part in the discussion are Lucy Gampell, Director of Action for Prisoners' Families and Lisa Miller, consultant child and adolescent psychotherapist at the Tavistock Clinic.

Tommy's Dad
