It's Morris Dancing, but not as we know it
Think Morris Dancing and what springs to mind are groups of men with bells, dancing around waving their handkerchiefs. It's not usually the preserve of women, except in the north west of England where female Morris Dancing is supreme.
Carnival Dancing, as it's known, was devised by women during the World War I when the men were away. It's now the subject of a new play by award-winning writer Helen Blakeman, herself a keen Morris dancer since the age of three.
The Morris runs from 6 to 28 May at the Everyman Theatre in Liverpool
