 On her mother's adventures in China in the 1920s
Mabel Cabot grew up knowing her mother Janet had travelled to China with her first husband in the 1920s but it wasn't until after her death that she discovered quite how adventurous she had been.
She had travelled down the Yellow River on a raft and into the Gobi desert on a camel, hunting for food. Janet was the first western woman ever to reach many of these far-off kingdoms.
Mabel tells the story of her mother’s travels and the personal heartbreak and betrayal that followed.
